Professional Background

Maciej “Matt” Ordon has received his legal education from University of Gdansk Law School and University of Detroit Law School. While studying in Detroit he worked as a law clerk for Dealership Litigation Department in Ford Motor Company.
After he graduated in 1990 from University of Detroit Law School he worked as an attorney for the Foreign Trade Department of the Chicago Office of Baker & McKenzie, the largest law firm in the world at the time and later for the Corporate Department of the New York and Warsaw Offices of Hunton & Williams, a top ten law firm in the United States at the time. In both of these firms, he worked on various international transactions, principally acquisitions, establishing joint venture companies and privatizations. These firms represented a number of the largest corporations and Maciej worked on various large projects including his substantial participation in a multi-million acquisition of Kwidzyn paper mill in Poland by International Paper Corporation, which was widely considered a Transaction of the Year 1992 in the Central Europe.
In 1995 Maciej entered the area of general practice concentrating on personal injury and criminal defense. Initially, he was associated with a Skokie law firm and in 1999 he established Law Offices of Maciej J. Ordon.

While the main office is located in Chicago Downtown Maciej maintains another office on the southwest side of Chicago for the convenience of his clients. Maciej takes pride in an efficient and successful resolution of his clientsʼ cases. It is imperative for him that his clients are fully informed about all significant developments in their cases. Legal cases are complicated and it is clientsʼ right to have everything explained so they can make their decisions.
Many of Maciejʼs clients, especially in personal injury cases, experience financial difficulties. Maciej can relate to these clients as he arrived in this country as a political refugee with literally several dollars and throughout his first year in Detroit when he worked in a warehouse and later during his studies at University of Detroit Law School he was self-supporting and financed his studies through his own work and student loans.
Maciej has traveled extensively throughout the world and can well understand people coming from various countries and cultures. He speaks fluent English and Polish and has intermediate knowledge of Russian, Spanish and French. Maciej has written legal articles for both American legal press and local Chicago Polish press.
